Position Summary

ION is looking for a full-time Process Engineer to support the commercial-scale design and build of carbon capture plants based on their internationally recognized solvent technology. ION was formed in 2008 with the mission of providing innovative, cost-effective solutions to CO2 capture from industrial and utility sources.


The Process Engineer will contribute to a team of engineers on feasibility, FEED, or detailed design projects for the integration of a carbon capture facility with various point sources of emissions. This position will require a hands-on individual with the capability to produce high-quality process deliverables according to a schedule and within a budget that meet current project/client requirements.  They will develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Process modeling is a core requirement for the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly explore process options and continuously implements procedures that optimize quality, automation, and efficiency
  • Develop PFDs, P&IDs, process simulations, heat and material balances, utilities summaries, and associated documents
  • Review engineering documents prepared by other disciplines, sub vendors, and project partners
  • Contribute to various design review meetings, P&ID reviews, PHAs, HAZOPs, 3D model reviews, etc., including travel
  • Support proposals with process engineering representation during meetings and process modeling results
  • Identify performance standards and proactively provide expertise in solving complex technical problems
  • Analyze, interpret, and document data through graphs, charts and reports

ION is looking for a full-time Origination Manager to support the overall commercialization of ION’s transformative energy transition technology. This includes driving inbound and outbound lead generation, performing market and project analysis to support market development and qualification of customers through the initial phases of project development, and serving as the point of contact for customers during the development stages. ION is searching for a Process Engineer to support the Research, Development and Technology (RD&T) team currently involved in designing, operating, and reporting results within ION’s pilot test program. These results are used to directly support ION’s design of large-scale commercial CO2 capture facilities worldwide. ION’s employees are a group of exceptional technical and business professionals and are looking for similarly talented individuals who share in our vision and mission. This is an exciting opportunity to work with, and learn from, one of the most dynamic innovators of carbon capture technology at the forefront of sustainable innovation.

The Process Engineer broadly provides input to and performs activities related to the RD&T trajectory of development such as design, implementation, and maintenance of new process methods and controls for ION's proprietary technology solutions related to CO2 capture. This position provides quality, safety, and innovation in support of the commercialization path of products. This position will require a hands-on individual that has the capability to produce high-quality process engineering deliverables according to a schedule and within budget that meet current pilot requirements. They must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity when background data is nonexistent. ION’s RD&T process engineering team works collaboratively with each other and with other engineers in mechanical engineering and process controls. At times, the role interfaces with ION’s Project Delivery team to support large-scale commercial deployment. This role will report directly to the Senior Director, Advanced Engineering, R&D.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Runs the pilot commissioning, operations, troubleshooting and reporting programs with oversight from ION management

• Works with the ION RD&T team to design, assemble, commission, and operate prototype devices and process units to deploy in pilot settings

Reporting directly to the Controller and based in our Houston, Texas office, the Senior Accountant will maintain financial records, process daily transactions, manage month-end close procedures, ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, contractual obligations, and company policies, and prepare variance and trend analyses to assist with financial statement preparation as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Financial Records and Analysis:
Maintain financial records by handling daily accounting tasks, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense allocations. Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts, prepare bank statements, and oversee routine procedures like fixed assets, leases, and prepaid expenses. Conduct variance and trend analysis to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings. Work closely with team members to resolve discrepancies, support financial reporting requirements, and assist with audits requests.


Working Capital Management:
Oversee the company’s cash flow, monitoring income and expenditures, and effectively managing cash receipts and disbursements to optimize financial performance, working capital and strategic investments. Manage the processes for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice creation, payment processing, and overdue account management.


Invoicing:
Preparing accurate invoices to commercial customers and the Department ofEnergy (DOE) in a timely manner, tracking payments, and addressing any billing inquiries.


Disbursements:
Reviewing the accuracy of invoices and other cash disbursements in comparison to purchase orders and contractual obligations, recording disbursements in the general ledger and maintaining all supporting documentation within the accounting system.


Policy and Compliance:
Support the development documentation, and maintenance of the accounting policies and procedures that align with regulatory standards (e.g., GAAP, IRC) and meet organizational needs. Ensure policies are designed for ease of adoption, practical implementation, and long-term sustainability, supporting compliance and consistency across all accounting functions.


Financial Process Enhancement:
Continuously assess and improve financial processes, internal controls, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Implement best practices to streamline workflows and drive operational excellence.


Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
At the direction of the Controller, ensure compliance with all relevant financial and DOE regulations and US GAAP. Support the DOE and traditional financial audits and lead the preparation of necessary documentation and schedules. Assist with periodic reporting to taxing and regulatory authorities, including completion of business licenses, and 1099s.


Business Collaboration:
Partner with project managers and corporate managers in developing operational metrics that enable informed decision-making.


Ad Hoc Tasks:
Undertake additional duties as needed.



Qualifications,Education, and Experience: 

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience), with a CPA, CMA, or similar designation preferred

·       Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally spanning both public accounting and private industry

·       Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and other relevant accounting principles, along with familiarity in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting

·       Strong regulatory compliance knowledge (DOE grant experience is a plus) and prior involvement in external audits

·       Proficiency in NetSuite is required; experience with QuickBooks, Zip and Concur is a plus

·       Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with MS365 tools such as Loop, Teams, and Planner
